Most economic calendars show dozens of events per week, many of which do not move anything. A cluttered calendar makes it harder to plan, and traders end up either ignoring it or reacting to minor releases.
One approach is to build a personal weekly sheet every Sunday with three columns: events that matter for your pairs, the expected value, and what result would change your plan. Limiting the list to perhaps five or six events forces prioritisation.
A simple filter is to keep only events from the central banks and countries whose currencies you trade, and only the top tier releases: rates, inflation, employment, sometimes PMIs. Speeches can be added if the speaker is senior.
A second column with a clear plan for each event, such as flat beforehand or reduced size, makes the sheet practical rather than decorative. After the week, a note on what actually moved helps refine the list.
What filter do you use for your calendar?
