Small wins and the quiet satisfaction trap

Post by Amanhasnoname »

Scalping delivers frequent small wins, each giving a bit of satisfaction. That feedback loop can become addictive, pulling attention toward the feeling of winning rather than the quality of the process.

The trap appears when trades are taken for the reward of a quick win. Setups lower in quality get accepted because they offer another hit. Losing trades feel worse in contrast, which can trigger more activity to feel better.

Awareness is the first step. Noticing the pull of the next trade and asking whether it meets the criteria provides some protection.

Measuring success by rule adherence rather than by profit changes the reward structure. A day with ten rule-compliant trades and a small loss counts as a good day. A day with a profit built on rule breaks counts as a bad one.

That shift in scoring is difficult but valuable.

Is performance measured by profit or by rule compliance, and has changing the scoring made a difference?
