A strong morning with the daily target achieved raises the question of whether to continue. Both choices have merits.
Stopping preserves gains and avoids giving them back. It also prevents the fatigue and overconfidence that often follow a good run. The cost is missed opportunities on days when conditions remain favourable.
Continuing can add profit when the edge is real and the trader is in good form. The risk is that later trades happen under lower quality conditions and with weaker focus.
Looking at the journal helps. Compare the average result of trades taken after reaching the target with the earlier ones. In many cases, later trades show worse results.
A middle path is reducing size after the target, trading only the best setups, and stopping at a hard time limit.
Whatever rule gets chosen, writing it down before the session beats negotiating with a good mood halfway through the afternoon.
What is done after hitting the daily target, and what does the record say about later trades?
Stop after the daily target is hit, or keep going?
