Brokers push new platform builds, and updates sometimes alter order handling, indicator behaviour, or chart rendering. A strategy that worked last week may behave differently after an update, and the cause is not obvious.
Known examples include changes to how stops are calculated, how pending orders are processed, and how history is stored. Custom indicators and EAs compiled for an older build can break or produce different outputs.
Reading release notes, even though they are dull, can flag relevant changes. Keeping a copy of the previous version allows quick rollback if something goes wrong.
Testing a new build on a demo account for a few days before using it live is a sensible precaution. Any change in fill behaviour, indicator values, or error messages deserves a closer look.
Disabling auto-update where possible gives control over timing. A weekend is a better moment to switch than a Wednesday morning.
Has an update ever changed how a strategy behaved, and how long did it take to figure out the cause?
