A chart that takes three seconds to load or refresh after switching pairs costs real opportunities in a fast market. The delay compounds when moving between several instruments.
Preloading charts on separate tabs or windows avoids waiting. A fixed set of pairs, each with a ready chart, lets switching take an instant. History settings matter too, since loading 100,000 bars on a one-minute chart slows everything down.
Limiting the bars kept in memory to what is actually needed, perhaps 5,000 to 10,000, speeds up the platform. Setting maximum bars in the terminal options is a quick adjustment with an immediate effect.
Fast storage also helps. A platform installed on an SSD loads and syncs history noticeably quicker than one on a spinning disk.
These sound like small details, but across a day of trading, the lost seconds add up to missed entries and slower reactions.
What chart settings have been tweaked to speed things up, and was the difference noticeable?
Time spent waiting for a chart to load is time lost to a missed setup
