Round numbers on exotics are not the same as round numbers on majors
Round numbers act as magnets on EURUSD, GBPUSD, and USDJPY. The 1.0900 or 150.00 level gets orders, options barriers, and psychological attention. On exotics the same logic applies with different digits.
USDTRY, for example, has its own set of numbers that matter. They are shaped by local central bank statements, by corporate hedging levels, and by the pace of a trend that can move a whole big figure in a week. The usual "00" and "50" levels get respect but the levels that actually bite are the ones linked to policy or to previous intervention.
USDZAR respects levels like 18.00 and 19.00 but its real structure comes from the interaction with gold prices and risk sentiment.
The practical takeaway is that porting a majors-based playbook onto exotics will leave gaps. Spend time on the pair's own history, find where it has paused or reversed, and ignore the generic mental map.
Where have the levels that actually mattered on an exotic pair come from, and how different were they from the usual round numbers?
