Thursday-only experiment: impulse pullback on GBPJPY

Post by FXS London Scalper »

For one quarter I limited a single setup to Thursdays: the first pullback after an impulse on GBPJPY during London. Why Thursday? In my earlier logs it was the day with the cleanest trends on this pair. Monday was choppy, Friday was unpredictable.

The setup in short:
  1. M5 impulse of at least 35 pips from a marked level after 08:00.
  2. Wait for the first pullback to the 38–50% area of that impulse.
  3. Entry on an M1 rejection candle, stop beyond the pullback low/high, target the impulse extreme first.
Over 13 Thursdays I got 17 trades: 10 winners, 7 losers, roughly +0.6R average. Encouraging, but it's 17 trades. I'd need far more to know whether Thursday really matters or whether I just had a lucky quarter.

The other thing I learned: GBPJPY spreads at 08:00 can be ugly. Several entries had more than 3 pips of spread, so I added a rule to skip the first five minutes after the open.

Has anyone tested day-of-week filters on yen crosses? I'm unsure whether this is a real effect or just a story I'm telling myself about a small sample.
