The safest approach is often to continue with the same size and the same rules, or even reduce size slightly. The target is close, and there is plenty of time, so there is no need for extra risk.

Some traders set a smaller daily target for the remaining days, just enough to finish the evaluation over the minimum period. That keeps them trading in a calm way without pushing for a fast finish.

Reducing risk after a fast start is common advice, but how much? Cutting to a quarter of normal size might stretch the remaining target over many weeks, which brings its own problems, like more exposure to rule changes or losing focus. Cutting to half often works as a middle ground. The idea is to slow down enough that one bad day can't undo the progress, while still moving towards the target at a reasonable pace. Working out the numbers, like how many winning trades at half size are needed, makes the decision clearer.

What happens if you give back most of the profit after a fast start? Having a plan for this helps, since it's a fairly common pattern. Some traders reset their thinking and treat the evaluation as starting fresh, with normal risk. Others stay cautious, worried about losing what's left. I'd decide in advance what to do if profit drops below a certain level, so the reaction isn't driven by frustration. A pre-set rule, like going back to normal risk once profit falls below a third of the target, keeps it simple.

The complacency point is the one I'd underline. People talk about the sprint to the finish, but I've seen more accounts lost by getting lazy once the cushion exists. A 5 percent buffer feels like permission to take the B-grade setup, and then three of them in a row at normal size give back half of it.

A concrete case: 100,000 dollar evaluation, 10 percent target, 5 percent daily loss limit. You're up 8,200 after four days. Risking 0.5 percent (500 dollars) per trade, you only need a few more clean winners. But if you start taking 1 percent trades to finish sooner and hit three losers in a day, that's 3,000 gone, which is more than a third of your profit and well into the daily limit.

What helps me is writing a rule before the day starts. For example, no more than two trades, normal risk, stop for the day after one loss. If a minimum trading days rule exists, I even cut risk to 0.25 percent and just collect days.

Do you move your daily stop tighter once you're close to the target, or leave the rules alone? And did you ever hit a consistency rule that forced you to keep trading after reaching the number?
