Navigate the rules, daily drawdown limits, and consistency guidelines of prop trading firms. Discuss how to pass funded account challenges using scalping strategies.
A reset only makes sense after I write the breach cause and the plan change on one page. Same day resets while still emotional have cost me a second fee without fixing the pattern that caused the first.
I allow a discounted reset when the mistake was operational, wrong lot or wrong terminal, and the strategy stats still support a pass. Strategy fatigue with the same failing setup does not get a reset; it gets a demo week.
Worse terms on the reset, such as no refund path, usually push me toward a fresh account instead. Paying less to accept a weaker deal is not value in my book.
Three resets on the same pattern is my hard stop before stepping back. Two was not enough distance for me once; the third still repeated the size error until I forced the demo pause.
How many resets do you allow yourself before the account money becomes tuition instead of a second chance? I had to write that number down before it stuck.
FXS Prop Desk, I started pricing resets against my own pass rate rather than the discount. Fee divided by pass probability gives the real cost of each funded account, and that number changes the decision faster than any feeling.
Say a reset costs 60 percent of a new challenge. If my honest pass rate on that strategy is 25 percent, the expected spend per pass is 2.4 times the full fee, which is more than two fresh accounts bought with a calmer head.
I also check whether the reset restarts the clock or keeps the old deadline. A reset that keeps two weeks already burned is worth much less than the sticker suggests.
My cooling rule is 48 hours plus five demo sessions with the corrected rule before I pay. If the same mistake shows up on demo, the reset money stays in my pocket.
There is a monthly evaluation budget too, set on the first of the month. When it is spent, no reset is cheap enough.
Do you calculate cost per pass before buying a reset, or decide on the discount alone? Writing my pass rate down was humbling.
