Setting Up MT5 for Scalping: Chart Templates and One-Click Trading

Post by FXS Prop Desk »

A clean MT5 setup saves seconds on every trade and prevents mis-clicks.

Suggested setup:
  • One template per strategy with only the indicators you actually use.
  • One-click trading enabled, with a default lot size of zero or the smallest value, so a stray click does little damage.
  • Bid and ask lines visible (Chart properties → Show Ask line), because shorts are closed on the ask.
  • Trade levels shown on the chart so stops and targets are visible and draggable.
  • Period separators on for daily boundaries in server time.
Profiles (File → Profiles) let you switch whole workspaces between, say, a London layout and an NY layout.

An additional benefit: a well-built panel can include the daily loss check, so it refuses to place a trade that would exceed the remaining daily risk. That turns a written rule into an automatic one.

What does your MT5 scalping template contain, and what did you remove over time?
