Documenting my warm-up routine before London under prop constraints

Post by LondonScalper »

Warm-up before London under prop constraints is shorter and stricter than on personal capital.

Prop rules punish sloppy first clicks. My warm-up is not meditation theatre — it is a checklist: calendar, spread filter, max R for the morning, and whether the firm’s overnight inventory rules leave me free to trade the open at all.

Warm-up under prop
  • Confirm flat / allowed to trade before cash open
  • Write the first A+ level only — no shopping list of five hopes
  • Size from the prop ladder, not from yesterday’s personal account habit
If the checklist is incomplete at open, I watch. Missing the first drive beats starting the day already negotiating with a rule breach.

What does your pre-London warm-up look like when a prop rulebook is in the room?

Warm-up ends with one sentence written: Today I am allowed to trade X with max YR. If I cannot finish the sentence, the platform stays flat until I can. Prop mornings punish vague intention harder than personal accounts do.

If prop news rules already force flat into a window that morning, the warm-up includes confirming that constraint in writing.

One line I'd add to that warm-up: take the actual remaining daily loss headroom from the firm's dashboard, in cash, rather than working it out from the headline percentage.

Firms calculate the daily limit from different reference points. Some use the balance at their reset time, some use the higher of balance and equity, and the reset is usually on server time, not yours. If you carried anything over the reset, or had a big floating swing late in the previous session, the real headroom at your open can be noticeably smaller than 5% of the account. Writing that figure in your "allowed to trade X with max YR" sentence makes the R figure honest.
