Twenty Asia sessions on AUDUSD in the journal beat any overnight anecdote.
I logged selective overnight scalps with session tags, spread at entry, and whether the idea was fade or continuation. The blended story in my head said "Asia is fine." The twenty-row sample said Asia is fine only when costs are calm and I am not bored into clicks.
What the sample taught
1. Several green trades were smaller than they felt after cost.
2. A few losers clustered when I ignored the spread filter.
3. Best nights were boring: one idea, clear invalidation, early flat into London.
Journaling a fixed block of sessions stops the brain from keeping only the memorable wins.
If you have an Asia AUDUSD sample, what pattern survived twenty sessions that did not survive the first three?
Twenty sessions is enough to see clusters, not enough to declare a forever edge. I treat the block as a living sample: renew, do not mythologise. When costs or my sleep schedule change, I start a fresh twenty rather than stretch old conclusions.
Sleep quality gets a crude score in that sample too. Overnight edge that depends on being half-awake is not an edge I want.
