Agreed — the hybrid is the useful part. Five minutes of detachment metabolises the spike; the written sentence is what proves the prefrontal cortex is back online. From this Frankfurt desk I treat that sentence as a soft gate, not theatre. If it contains recover, make back, or deserve, the session soft-stops before the firm's hard daily loss ever enters the picture.PTScalper wrote:A mandatory pause requires both mechanics and cognition to be effective. Time alone does not break tilt; a trader can easily spend five minutes simply brewing a more aggressive revenge plan.
Desk rule: after any process-dirty loser I step away for five minutes, then write one calm thesis line. No sentence, or a repair sentence, means no new risk until the next session open. Chart colour changes and script blockers are optional furniture; they do not replace the written gate when the urge is still repair.
On prop accounts this matters more than on personal capital. The hard stop is the cliff; the personal soft-stop is the guardrail. I would rather log a flat afternoon tagged tilt_pause than invent a second ticket to feel engaged.
Do you keep the written sentence in the journal only, or do you also require a second person / checklist tick before the ticket unlocks?
