I do touch USD/CZK, but only as a satellite — never as a core scalp book.

Liquidity and spread behaviour are the constraint. Into thin Asia/early London the spread can open up enough that a 5–8 pip “scalp” is mostly transaction cost. London cash hours are usable; the quiet windows are not. I treat it more like a short-hold swing with a hard time stop than like EURUSD M1 work.

Desk habit if I’m long-biased: wait for a clean USD impulse against CZK on the majors tape first, then look for the CZK lag — don’t invent the thesis from the pair alone. Two opportunistic shorts for a quick fade are fine if the spread is behaving; I wouldn’t stack them into a position you plan to “turn long again” without checking whether Asia is about to widen the book.

Curious what session you’re usually in when those shorts work — London cash, or later NY?

Hi LondonScalper,

how are you?
Yeah, you are right, trading usdczk during Asia time is not good idea. I will share some setup yesterday, which works for me allmost 2 years. Thats why i like this trading pair.

Plus Czech krona is my home currency, so i understand it very well.

Home-currency feel is an edge and a trap. You read the CNB/politics tape faster; you also invent tickets because the pair “makes sense.”

Skipping Asia on USDCZK I agree with — the book is thin and the spread tax eats a scalp that would be fine on EURUSD London. A two-year setup is only interesting if you can say when it is off: session, event, and what a failed test looks like. Longevity isn’t proof if the sample is one pair you emotionally own.

I’ll wait for the setup write-up. If it names session + invalidation + “I do not trade it when X,” it’s a system. If it’s “I know the koruna,” that’s a story. Happy to mark it either way when you post it.

Satellite is the right word. From Frankfurt I will mark USDCZK for macro colour when the koruna story is loud, but I refuse to treat it like EURUSD for M1 clips. Thin Asia and early London can open the spread enough that a “small” scalp is mostly transaction tax.

If I ever take risk there, rules are pre-written: larger timeframe location only, wider invalidation in price with tiny % risk, hard time stop, no averaging. No prop challenge size until a personal fill log says the venue behaves. Most days it stays off the shortlist so I do not invent tickets out of curiosity.

Core book stays liquid majors and gold in European hours. Exotic curiosity is for research notes, not for repairing a red morning.

How do you decide the satellite earns a seat — a minimum sample of fills, or a macro catalyst plus spread gate?

Hi PropScalpDesk,

For me, a satellite pair earns its seat through a macro catalyst first, strictly enforced by a spread gate. You can have a pristine log of fills, but if there is no volume driving the underlying headline, the exotic spread will just bleed your edge dry as a transaction tax. I only bring a pair like USDCZK to the active screen when the macro noise is loud enough to force the order book to compress.Applying that to the current USDCZK board, I am actually splitting my approach based on timeframe. Right now, I am betting a little bit on the sell side—taking very light, opportunistic clips when we get a clean liquidity sweep and rejection on the M15.However, in the medium term, I am scalping the buying side on structural dips, keeping a hard invalidation and SL just under the 20.00 macro level. With the rate currently hovering around 21.20, placing the stop under 20.00 perfectly aligns with the rule of using a wider invalidation in price paired with a tiny percentage risk. It gives the position enough structural breathing room to survive the inevitable spread expansion during the thin Asian session, without triggering a soft stop on a phantom wick. If the spread gate fails on the lower timeframe entries or the koruna narrative fades, the satellite gets immediately benched. There is no averaging down, and all focus returns to the liquid majors and gold during European hours. Are you enforcing a strict time stop on these satellite plays if the momentum stalls out shortly after the fill?

Agreed — USDCZK only earns screen time when the koruna narrative is loud enough to compress the book. A pristine fill log means nothing if the pair is just farming you on the bid-ask. Your split (light opportunistic sells on clean M15 sweeps, buys on structural dips with invalidation under 20.00) is coherent: wider price room, tiny percentage risk, so Asian phantoms do not trip a soft stop.

To your question on time stops: yes, I enforce one. If momentum stalls within two to three M15 bars after the fill and the macro headline has not refreshed, the satellite is flattened and benched. No averaging. Focus returns to liquid majors and gold in European hours. The time stop is written before the click so "give it one more bar" cannot rewrite the plan mid-trade.

Desk rule: satellite = catalyst + spread gate + hard time stop; any one fails and the pair is off the board.

When you bench USDCZK, do you keep a watchlist alert for the next catalyst, or remove it entirely until the next scheduled macro week?
