Medium-impact news as a strategy filter: trade after, never through

Post by LondonScalper »

Everyone respects red-folder events. Orange and medium prints quietly ruin scalps.

My filter: medium-impact for my pairs means trade after, never through. I may keep a runner only if it is already risk-free; I do not open fresh M1 ideas into that minute. After the print, I wait for structure — same logic as bigger events, just a shorter timer and often less drama.

This sits alongside tier-1 flat rules. The point is consistency: if the calendar can spike spreads or invite a two-tick trap, the strategy is stand-aside, not "tiny size for fun". Tiny size through medium news taught me expensive lessons that were not statistically interesting — just avoidable.

I keep a personal list of medium events that still move my pairs. The generic calendar colour is a start, not the finish.
  • Do you treat medium-impact as flat, micro-size, or ignore?
  • Which medium events still catch you out on your pairs?
Strategy filter, not fear.
