FVG created in the London first hour: trade it or leave it?

London’s first hour manufactures imbalances constantly. Trading all of them is a quiet tax.

I leave most first-hour FVGs alone unless they align with a higher-timeframe level or a clear sweep story. Fresh M1 gaps in the middle of the open drive are often just impulse exhaust, not destinations worth fading or chasing. Marking them is fine; clicking them because they exist is not.

Rule: new FVG during the London first hour is a watchlist mark, not an automatic order. I prefer to trade reactions later in the morning or into the overlap if price returns with structure. If the imbalance is immediately filled and forgotten, that tells you something about how much "edge" was there.

Session timing filters have improved my FVG results more than finer gap geometry.

I engage only when the imbalance sits with a higher-timeframe level or a clear sweep story, and when the drive has shown some acceptance rather than pure exhaust. Fresh M1 gaps mid-impulse are often just speed, not a gift.

Concrete rule: first-hour FVG alone is observation. FVG plus HTF level plus a reclaim/rejection trigger can be a ticket. Time stop is short; if price leaves without me, I do not chase the midpoint later out of completionism.

Another filter I use: if the first-hour FVG sits against the higher-timeframe open drive rather than with it, I need even more confluence or I leave it. Fighting the open with a pretty gap is a recurring expensive hobby.
