XAUUSD news map: tier-1 events I always flat for.

Gold has its own calendar personality. US CPI, NFP, FOMC, and sometimes unexpected risk-off headlines move it when EUR looks sleepy. I keep a written map on the desk -- not a mental list I edit mid-spike.

Always flat
CPI, NFP, FOMC decision/statement window, and any surprise central-bank special I did not plan for. Medium US data is case-by-case with wider spreads assumed.

Also on the map
Geopolitical headline risk cannot be scheduled; for that I use spread/pace vetoes rather than prediction. If gold is already jumping on thin quotes, I do not need a flag colour to stand aside.

The map prevents "just this once" during a print that always costs me.

What is permanently on your gold flat list -- and what did you remove after over-filtering?

I revisit the gold map quarterly. Events get added when they repeatedly widen my spreads; they get removed when I flat for theatre. The list should be short enough to obey under stress. A map you ignore is worse than none -- it trains disobedience.
