Low-liquidity holiday plus medium news equals skip combo

Post by LondonScalper »

Low-liquidity holiday plus medium news: the skip combo I stopped negotiating.

Either factor alone might be tradable with filters. Together they are how I used to catch a "nothing" event that still spiked because the book was empty. Think early-close Friday plus a second-tier print, or bridge days around holidays.

Rule
If the day is already amber on my holiday map and there is medium-impact data in my session, I skip. No micro size "just to look." The combo is the point -- two mild poisons.

I write these days on the calendar in advance. Deciding in the moment always invents an exception.

Have you logged a holiday+news day that looked harmless on the calendar and still chewed the account?

Bridge days before public holidays deserve the same combo logic even when the "news" is only medium. Staffing is thin on both sides of the quote. I would rather be annoyed at missing a move than explaining a holiday spike fill to myself on Sunday.

Holiday liquidity + medium news = skip

Either factor alone can be traded with filters. Together they are how I used to catch a “nothing” print that still spiked because the book was empty. Early-close Fridays plus second-tier data, bridge days around holidays — skip combo, not a creativity challenge.

Frankfurt rule: if the calendar shows medium impact and the session is already thin, I stand aside. No reduced-size heroics. The journal labels it correctly so I do not rewrite history as “almost a good fade.”

Prop accounts especially: soft breaches love thin books.

I put the skip on the calendar in advance when I can see the combo coming. Deciding live with a chart open is how exceptions creep back in.

After a skip I still review what happened so I learn the spike pattern without paying tuition every holiday season.

Skip combo days are good days if the account is unchanged and the habit holds.

What combo still tempts you — bridge-day CPI cousins, or early-close plus a central-bank speaker?
