Solid points on the emergency process. My current fallback stack usually involves keeping a stripped-down cTrader mobile instance ready on my secondary device, strictly configured for a one-click flatten if the VPS drops or the main platform freezes up.

I am actually really tempted to try the new iPhone Duo for exactly the reasons you mentioned. The display and overall dimensions look a bit better and more practical than the Samsung Z Fold. Having a proper chart open side-by-side with the order ticket without having to toggle back and forth sounds like a massive advantage when you need to quickly assess and kill a position during an outage.

But honestly, it’s going to be a tough decision. For the last year and a half, I've really preferred using smaller phones like my iPhone 17. Going from that to a bulky foldable might be frustrating for everyday use outside of trading. Because of that, skipping the Duo and just going with the iPhone 18 Pro might end up being the right choice for me in the end.

Has anyone here actually used a Z Fold or similar for emergency flattening? Does the broker app UI actually scale properly on these wider screens, or do the execution buttons end up completely misplaced?

My own fallback is still a second phone with a minimal ticket and a known webtrader path. Fancy screen is optional; one-click close under stress isn’t.

Foldables and multitasking screens look incredible for content consumption, but when the primary fiber drops and you're holding serious size in a fast market, a beta OS glitch or a layered UI is a nightmare. I want a boring, proven glass slab running on a completely separate cellular network. Plus i know, that most of the platform is trying to be super colorful and cool, because thanks to that traders trade more and that means more money for broker. I remember, when i saw for first time profesional platform in bank, it was very boring.

The fallback process needs to be pure muscle memory. When you need to flatten under extreme time pressure, you don't want to rely on complex automated merges or fancy app overlays. You just need the terminal truth: the ability to instantly select the individual position and click to close it manually, plain and simple. If the secondary device adds even one millisecond of cognitive friction to that physical action, it's a liability, not a backup.

Have you ever gone as far as keeping that secondary device permanently plugged in with the webtrader already authenticated and open on the desk, or do you just keep it nearby until the primary network throws a fit?

Exactly. Boring is a feature under stress.

Banks didn’t paint their terminals for dopamine; they painted them so a fat-finger doesn’t become a career event. Colourful retail UIs are optimised for engagement. Flatten paths are optimised for clarity. Those goals conflict.

My secondary phone stays deliberately dull: one broker app, large flatten, separate SIM, no experimental OS week. Foldables and multitasking demos can wait until they’ve survived a few cold fail drills. When fibre dies and you’re holding size, you want the slab that always works — not the one that looks clever in a keynote.
