Yes, exactly.
Everybody can have great trading times, when everything goes in your way.
But the reality is about to keep your trading and account in profit even in bad days.
Market gives money, but as well takes, so be prepared to take action as well as wait for opportunity.
Yes, i Agree.
Most of the time i wait.
Yeah and its not easy wait. I think that it is the hardest thing in trading, just wait and be prepared.
Hi FTtrader,

yes, you are right. It is not easy. Especially i see it with younger generation, they have all the time mobiles in their hands.
And they are not able to be deeply focused.

Spot on.

That constant ping of notifications and the habit of passive scrolling completely destroys the kind of cognitive endurance trading demands.

When people look at high-frequency scalping, they usually fixate on the sheer number of executions. Depending on market volatility and the session, taking anywhere from 20 to 50+ trades a day is completely normal for an active scalper. But people often misunderstand what that looks like in practice:

High Frequency $\neq$ Mindless Tapping: Managing that many positions doesn't mean throwing trades at the wall to see what sticks. It requires a clinical, mechanical routine built strictly on real-time price action.

The Focus Cost: Operating at that tempo requires absolute, uninterrupted immersion. You cannot trade like that with a phone in one hand and social media feeds distracting you in the other. One second of lost focus during a fast-moving session is all it takes to miss a structural shift or mismanage risk.

Mental Stamina: True scalping is an endurance sport. By the end of a heavy London-New York overlap, the mental fatigue is real precisely because every single micro-decision requires 100% of your cognitive bandwidth.

If younger traders want to survive high-turnover strategies, they first have to learn how to lock out the noise and sit still in front of the charts. How many entries are you typically averaging in a standard session these days?
Preserve your own money. Scale with the market's money. Exponential growth is the ultimate key.

Yes PTscalper, thats right.

Honestly i have days and times, when i make 5 quick trades and im done.
And sometimes simply i see lot of opportunities and i trade like 50+ trades.

But you have to be prepared for such days. I found out that many people trades just for sake of trading.
They cannot be ok without open trades.

307 is a lot of clicks. I will be blunt in a friendly way: on our side of the book, ticket count is not a performance metric.

My busiest London cash window might be a dozen to twenty well-filtered scalps; an unusually active day rarely needs more. Beyond that you are often paying spread repeatedly for noise that would have sorted itself on M5. High counts also hide the real question — how many of those tickets had a pre-defined invalidation and a size that still made sense after costs?

If 307 came from a genuine edge with tight risk and flat correlation, fair enough. If it came from “the tape was moving so I kept firing,” that is usually a cost and fatigue story wearing a record badge.

I would rather see your best expectancy day with fewer tickets than a personal best for activity.

Curious — of those 307, roughly what share were planned setups versus impulsive adds?

Waiting is the skill. Best day count on this desk is rarely the highest ticket count — it is the day I took two A+ clips and refused the rest. From Frankfurt I cap European morning at a hard number of attempts, not a profit target. When the count is done, the session is done.

Prop flavour: trailing DD punishes “just one more” more than personal accounts do. A green morning can still die on the fourth correlated ticket. I log attempts alongside fills so I can see when “busy” replaced “selective.”

Practical rule: if I cannot name the idea in one line before the click — “USD reclaim into NY” or “gold sweep-reclaim at H1 level” — I do not take it. Waiting feels unproductive until you price the spreads you did not pay.

What is your hard max tickets on a normal London block before you force flat?
