A second monitor for the boring numbers

The main screen carries the chart and the order panel. A second screen can hold information that doesn't need to be at the center of attention: the current spread, the time in UTC, the countdown to the next scheduled event, the tick rate, and the ping to the server.

Having these numbers in constant, peripheral view changes behavior. A spread that jumps from 0.3 to 1.2 is seen immediately, not after a bad fill. A clock that shows UTC avoids time zone mistakes. A countdown to a release prevents surprise.

A simple dashboard can be built from the platform's own tools or a small script. It doesn't need to be fancy. Large digits, clear colors for thresholds, and nothing else.

It also moves some of the work off the main chart. Spread and time on the chart's corner compete with price for attention. On another screen, they stay available without crowding the view.

A small monitor or even an old tablet works for this.

Knowing the cost and the clock at a glance is more valuable than another oscillator.

A small refinement is to make the dashboard talk through color only for the values that matter, keeping everything else dim. Spread in green when normal and flashing red above a threshold. Time to next event in white until five minutes remain, then yellow. The idea is to avoid creating another screen that demands reading, since the whole point is to free up attention for the chart.

What numbers sit on the second screen, and has anything on it ever prevented a mistake?
