When the statement and the platform disagree

At the end of the month, the broker's statement shows a different profit than the platform's history. Not by a lot, but enough to notice.

Several things cause it. Commission and swap may be recorded in separate lines on the statement and bundled in the platform. Time zones differ, so a trade closed just before midnight appears in different months. Currency conversion adds another rounding difference.

Also, the platform's history can be filtered by date in ways that exclude open trades or those closed just after the period ends.

For a scalper with hundreds of trades, small mismatches accumulate. A few cents per trade can become tens of dollars per month.

Reconciling regularly keeps surprises small. Exporting the history from the platform and the statement as spreadsheets, then matching the totals by ticket number, finds any discrepancy quickly.

Any trade on the statement that's missing from the history, or the reverse, deserves a support ticket. Most brokers sort it out without drama, but only if asked, with ticket numbers ready.

Did a monthly reconciliation ever uncover a discrepancy, and how was it settled?

Commission and swap bundled on one side and split on the other explains most gaps, and time zones explain the rest: a trade closed at 23:30 server time on the last day may fall into the next month on a statement in a different zone. Reconciling one month line by line once usually shows which of the two it is.
