Too many charts, too little attention

Too many charts, too little attention

A wall of monitors looks professional. Twelve pairs, four timeframes each, dozens of indicators. In practice it often hurts.

Attention is limited. A trader watching forty charts sees none of them well, and the information that matters gets lost among the information that does not. Reaction times lengthen, and decisions get worse.

The platform pays a price too. Every open chart processes every tick and every indicator calculation. A heavy workspace slows the whole terminal and can push a modest computer into lag.

Most consistent scalpers use surprisingly few screens. Often one or two pairs, a clean chart, a spread display, and a news calendar. Simplicity makes it easier to notice when something odd appears.

A good experiment is cutting the workspace down to the essentials for two weeks and comparing the results with the busy version.

A good test is a week of tracking: each time a chart actually triggers a decision, tick it off in a notebook. The charts with no ticks by Friday are candidates for closing.

How many charts are open at the moment, and how many have actually influenced a trade this week?
