Monday morning drift and the gap that is not there

Monday mornings often start slowly. Liquidity returns gradually, and price may drift toward the Friday close or make small moves while the market digests weekend news.

A common mistake is assuming Monday must follow through on Friday's direction. Sometimes it does, but often the first hours are directionless, and the real move comes later in the London session.

The Sunday open itself can show gaps and wide spreads, which then normalize. Entering during that period brings costs that vanish later.

Monday also hosts data releases and speeches like any other day. They are not different, but they land in a market with less established direction.

A useful habit is skipping the first hour or two of the week, and starting once the London session is active. Check whether this improves results by comparing Monday morning trades with the rest in the journal.

Some strategies work well on Monday afternoon after the range has been established. Others do not.

How does the first part of the week compare with the rest in the results?
