cTrader and MT5 handle the same order differently

Moving between platforms is rarely seamless, and one of the reasons is order handling. The same click can behave differently depending on the engine behind it.

cTrader, for instance, uses a positions model that's closer to hedging by default. Orders are linked to positions in a way that makes partial closes and modifications straightforward. Stops attach to a position, and the platform's handling of slippage is explicit: orders can carry a slippage tolerance in pips and a time in force.

The differences show up in details. How market-range orders work, how trailing stops behave when the connection drops, what's shown on the screen when a fill is partial, and how fast the interface responds under load.

A strategy tested on one platform and run on the other can behave differently without any change in logic. It's worth testing on the exact platform, account type, and broker that will be used live.

Which platform has handled fast conditions most smoothly, and what made the difference?
