Screen recordings: the review tool nobody uses

Memory is a poor witness. After a session, the trades feel cleaner or messier than they were. A screen recording shows what actually happened.

Recording the chart and order window during trading, then reviewing selected moments, catches things the journal misses: hesitation before an entry, a fumbled click, the moment a rule was broken.

The files can be large, but recording at low frame rates keeps them manageable. Only the worst and best trades need review, so the rest can be deleted.

The first review is often uncomfortable. Mistakes that felt invisible are suddenly obvious. That is the point.

A useful approach is watching at one and a half times speed with the trade log beside it, pausing at each entry to check whether the setup met the rules.

Some traders keep a short highlight list of recurring errors, which becomes the focus for the following week.

Has recording sessions ever revealed a habit that the journal never caught?
