Win streaks and the quiet rise in risk

Five winners in a row, and the sixth trade looks special. Size goes up a little, the stop gets wider, and the checklist feels optional.

Streaks are normal in any process with a decent win rate. Five wins in a row says little about the next trade. The psychological effect, though, is large, since confidence rises and risk perception falls.

Risk management rules that depend on feelings tend to fail here. A rule that depends on numbers, such as risking a fixed percentage regardless of recent results, holds up better.

Also worth watching is the pace. After a streak, trades often come faster, and quality falls. Slowing down on purpose counters it.

A simple check after any streak: compare the next trade against the criteria as if it were the first of the day. If it does not pass, skip it.

Streaks end, and the damage depends on the size taken when they do.

What changes in behavior show up after a winning streak, and how are they handled?
