Reconnect behavior: what happens when the platform drops

Connections fail. The question is what the platform does next, and many traders never test it.
Some platforms reconnect automatically and resume. Others show a red indicator and wait. Some reload charts but not expert advisors, so automated logic is silently disabled until someone notices.
A good habit is simulating a disconnect on demo: unplug the cable for thirty seconds, reconnect, and watch what comes back. Do the open positions show correctly? Do the pending orders still exist? Does the advisor restart?
Also worth knowing is what the broker does with orders sent during the outage. Some queue them and execute later at stale prices, which is dangerous.
The safest protection is server-side stops on every position, so the broker closes the trade even if the connection to the trader is gone.
Another useful measure is a simple alert, a phone message when the platform loses its connection, since the person might not be looking at the screen.
When did the platform last drop mid-trade, and what happened next?
