VPS location matters more than VPS specs

A cheap virtual server in the right data center beats an expensive one in the wrong city. For scalping, the distance to the broker's trade server is the number that counts, and it is measured in milliseconds.

Most brokers host their servers in a handful of places: London, New York, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Singapore. A VPS in the same facility can reach the server in under a millisecond. One across the ocean takes eighty or more.

The processor and RAM figures on a hosting plan matter much less. A single platform with a few charts runs fine on a basic machine, as long as the network behaves.

Before renting anything, find out where the broker's servers sit. Support can usually say, or a traceroute from different locations gives a hint. Then compare ping from a few providers using trial periods.

Also check whether the VPS provider has a reputation for noisy neighbors, because shared hardware with heavy tenants can cause random stalls.

Where is the VPS located relative to the broker, and what ping does it show during busy sessions?
