Demo fills are too kind, and the proof is easy to find

Demo accounts usually fill at the quoted price, instantly, with no slippage, and no rejections. That is not how the live environment works, especially in fast markets.

The gap shows up quickly in scalping. A strategy that returns 3 pips per trade on demo might return 1.8 live, once slippage, wider live spreads, and a few missed fills are counted.

A good test is running the same strategy on demo and a small live account at the same time, then comparing trade by trade. The differences in entry and exit prices, and in the number of executed orders, show exactly how much the demo flatters the results.

Some brokers deliberately make demo feeds cleaner than live. Others run demo on a separate server with different latency.

It is worth treating demo results as an upper bound, not a forecast. If the strategy barely works there, it will not work live.

How big was the difference between demo and live results for the first strategy tested on both?
