Eye strain and screen time: the quiet drain on trading quality

Long sessions in front of charts affect the body. Eyes dry out, shoulders tighten, headaches arrive, and concentration slips.

The effect on decisions is real. Tired eyes make small details harder to see, like the spread value or the lot size field. Physical discomfort pulls attention away from price.

Simple adjustments help. The 20-20-20 habit, looking at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes, reduces strain. Screen brightness set to match the room, a dark theme that isn't too stark, and decent chair and desk height all matter.

Hydration and short walks might seem trivial, yet they influence energy across a long session.

Some traders keep a timer to remind them to move. It sounds boring, and it works better than willpower.

None of this improves the strategy, but it protects the person executing it, and execution quality depends on that person being in good shape.
