A mobile hotspot as a backup, and the trap of an untested failover

Internet outages during a trade are rare and expensive. Having a second connection is a cheap safeguard, but only if it works when needed.
A phone hotspot is the usual choice. The main problem is that it often hasn't been tried under real conditions. The platform may need to reconnect, the signal may be weak in the trading room, and a data cap can quietly kick in.
Testing means switching off the main connection during a quiet moment, connecting through the hotspot, and checking that the platform reconnects and that ping is acceptable. It's also worth knowing how long it takes, since a two-minute scramble is a long time with an open position.
Other safeguards help. A mobile app logged in to the same account lets positions be managed from a phone. Server-side stops mean positions are protected even when everything fails.
None of these is exciting, but they matter on the day the router dies.
What is your plan if the connection drops with a trade open?
