Windows updates and the reboot that arrives mid-session

Automatic updates have a way of choosing the worst moment. A Windows VPS or home PC that restarts during an open scalp can leave trades unmanaged for minutes.
Defaults on many systems install updates and restart outside active hours, but the definition of active hours often doesn't match a trader's schedule. A forex session that runs overnight in one time zone isn't recognised as active.
Practical fixes are simple. Set active hours to cover the entire trading window, or switch updates to manual and install them on weekends. On a VPS, check the provider's settings, since some manage updates themselves.
Also worth doing: make sure the platform starts automatically after a reboot and that any expert advisors reload. A restart that leaves the terminal closed is as bad as a freeze.
Even then, never rely on the platform alone. Stops placed on the server survive a reboot, while stops managed by a local script do not.
Has an unexpected restart ever cost a trade?
