CPU steal and noisy neighbours on cheap VPS plans

Not all virtual servers deliver the same performance. Cheap shared plans often oversell CPU, and the effect shows up at the worst moments.

CPU steal is the time a virtual machine waits for physical CPU that's being used by others. On a quiet day it stays near zero. On a busy day, when many tenants are active, it can spike. A platform that's meant to process ticks instantly suddenly lags.

For scalping, the symptoms are subtle. Orders get sent a few hundred milliseconds late. Charts freeze for a second. An expert advisor falls behind during a news spike, exactly when fast processing mattered.

Checking is easy. Windows Task Manager doesn't show steal directly, but consistent unexplained lag with low reported CPU usage is a hint. Some providers publish dedicated resource plans that guarantee CPU.

For a few extra dollars per month, dedicated resources are cheap insurance against a bad fill.
