Account tier upgrades and the spread that changed with them

Many brokers offer account tiers based on balance or trading volume, with promises of better spreads, lower commissions, or faster execution. Moving up a tier can change conditions in ways that are not obvious.
A tier with lower commission may come with a higher minimum spread. A VIP tier might provide access to a different liquidity pool with deeper depth but different last-look rules.
Before upgrading, compare the actual specifications of each tier, including the average spread by hour, commission, and any execution differences. If possible, demo trade the new tier or run a small live test.
Also watch for downgrades. Some programs reduce benefits if volume or balance falls below thresholds, and the change can happen without a loud announcement.
Track costs per trade over time. If a sudden shift appears after a tier change, the cause is likely there.
Treat tiers as products to be evaluated with data, not as automatic improvements.
Did moving to a different account tier change the realized cost per trade?
