The hesitation after a loss: when a valid signal does not get clicked

Different problem from revenge trading, and quieter. After a stop-out, the next setup appears, matches every rule, and the finger stays off the button. Three seconds later it has gone. Then comes the next one, also skipped, and a day of two losses becomes a day of zero trades followed by regret when the skipped ones would have worked.
Flinching like this is expected. The loss is still fresh and the brain is protecting against a repeat. But for a scalper whose edge is spread across a large number of small trades, skipping random ones breaks the sample. The winners that get missed are not random: they are the ones that came right after a loss, which means results are being measured on a filtered set.
Practical tools:
- reduce size by half for the next trade only, using a written rule, so the click carries less weight
- pre-commit to a minimum number of valid signals to take per session, regardless of what came before
- log skipped valid signals separately and count how many winners were among them
That last tally is often what finally ends the habit. Seeing the missed pips in black and white is hard to argue with.
How do you get through the first trade after a stop-out, size cut or pure routine?
