Asking for feedback on trade ideas in a forum, and what makes feedback useful

Posting a setup and asking for opinions can be helpful, but the quality of responses depends heavily on what is shared. A screenshot with no context draws guesses. A post with the time, the pair, the rules, the spread, and the result draws useful commentary.

Good feedback focuses on the process: whether the entry matched the rules, whether costs were considered, and whether the sample was big enough. Weak feedback focuses on outcomes, praising winners and criticising losers.

Beware advice that ignores execution. Suggestions that sound brilliant on a clean chart often fall apart once spread and slippage are included.

Looking for people who ask about costs and sample size is a good sign. Those who talk only about direction are less likely to help.

Keeping the exchange specific, with numbers and timeframes, makes the discussion valuable for everyone reading.

What kind of feedback has actually improved a strategy, and what turned out to be noise?
