Replay mode flatters hindsight

Replaying historical data to practise setups feels like training. It is useful, but it comes with a hidden bias: knowing that the data is historical, and often having seen the chart before, affects decisions.

Hindsight shapes what gets picked. Obvious setups seem obvious because the outcome is half-remembered. Missed trades feel like errors that would never happen live.

The emotional component is also missing. Without real money at risk, hesitation, fear, and the urge to chase are absent, so the replay does not train the hardest part.

To reduce the bias, replay unseen data, hide the right side of the chart, and log decisions before revealing the outcome. Scoring the results afterward, against the rules rather than the profit, gives a more honest picture.

Replay is a good tool for learning patterns and testing ideas. It is a poor predictor of live performance, which depends heavily on behaviour under pressure.

Has replay practice carried over to live trading, or does the gap remain large?
