Stop hunting versus plain liquidity seeking, a fairer reading

Stops cluster at obvious levels like recent highs, lows, and round numbers. When price moves through those levels, the stops trigger and add momentum, then the move often fades. It feels targeted, and sometimes it may be.

A calmer explanation is that large participants need liquidity to fill big orders, and clustered stops provide it. Price drifts toward areas where orders are dense because that is where trades can happen at size. No conspiracy is required, just ordinary incentives.

The retail experience is the same either way, though. A stop placed at an obvious level gets taken out far more often than one placed in a quiet zone, and the reversal that follows hurts.

Practical adjustments do not depend on proving intent. Place stops beyond obvious levels, allow room for a spike, and size positions so that a wider stop is still affordable. Check whether entries are being made right into the usual sweep zones.

Is stop placement adjusted for likely sweep zones, or does it stay at obvious chart levels?
