Hotkeys save time and also produce double entries

Keyboard shortcuts let scalpers buy and sell without moving the mouse. They shave off precious fractions of a second, and they also invite errors.

A key pressed twice, a sticky key, or a focus switch to the wrong window can send two orders instead of one. Keyboard repeat on a held key can fire several orders in a row on some setups. And pressing a hotkey while the wrong chart is active sends the trade to the wrong pair.

The fixes are practical. Spacing the keys far apart reduces accidents. Using a short cooldown between entries blocks duplicates. A clear visual indicator of the active chart removes the wrong-pair problem.

Scripts that handle hotkeys can include safeguards, such as refusing a new order if one was sent in the last second, or refusing sizes above a limit.

Testing on a demo account until the muscle memory is solid and mistakes are rare is worth the time before going live with a hotkey setup.

Which safeguards are built into your hotkey setup, and has a double order ever slipped through?
