Win streaks inflate size faster than anything else

Three wins in a row feel like proof of skill. Confidence rises, and size creeps up. A trade that would normally be 0.5 lots becomes 0.8, then 1.0.

The danger is that the next loss hits larger than usual and wipes out the streak's gains. Variance does not care about confidence, and streaks end for no reason.

Fixed sizing rules guard against this. Position size based on a set percentage of equity, calculated before the session, removes the temptation to adjust on feel. Changes happen only at defined points, such as the start of a week.

It helps to watch for the emotional signals. Feeling invincible, rushing, or thinking the market is easy are warnings. Those moments call for more caution, not less.

Reviewing the journal for size changes after winning runs usually shows how often the habit appears. The cost is visible in the numbers.
