Futures lead, spot follows: how much of a head start is it?

CME currency futures, like 6E for the euro, trade on a central exchange with a visible order book and timestamped trades. Spot forex is decentralized. When a big order hits futures, spot adjusts, usually within milliseconds, because arbitrageurs link the two.
For a retail trader looking at a spot chart, that lag is invisible. The order has already moved the market by the time the platform shows the new price.
Still, futures data can help in another way. Volume and depth in 6E reveal where real size is trading. A surge in contracts at a price level, or a thinning of the book, can signal that spot is about to move, even if the spot chart hasn't yet.
The edge isn't in speed, since the lag is too small to beat with a retail connection. It's in context: seeing that volume dried up before a move, or that an apparent breakout in spot has no follow-through in futures.
Not everyone wants a second data subscription and a second screen. But for those who scalp EURUSD seriously, it's one of the more informative extras.
Has anyone added futures data to a spot workflow, and was it worth the cost and screen space?
