The odd benefit of trading fewer pairs

A scanner shows 28 pairs. The temptation is to watch them all. More pairs mean more setups, so more profit. The logic is attractive and usually wrong.

Each pair has a personality: typical spread, average range, reaction to news, session preferences. Learning those quirks takes hundreds of hours. A trader spread across 12 pairs knows each one superficially.

Concentrating on two or three pairs builds a deeper feel. The behaviour around key levels becomes familiar. Unusual conduct stands out immediately.

Cost also falls. Major pairs have the tightest spreads, and sticking to them reduces average cost per trade.

Attention is another factor. Watching three charts is manageable. Watching twelve means missing details and acting on partial information.

A reasonable experiment is to trade only EURUSD and one other pair for 60 days and compare results with the previous period.

How many pairs are traded here, and has narrowing the list ever improved results?
