what nine hours of screen does to a 5-pip trade

Execution is partly physical. A few effects that tend to show up:

- Dry, tired eyes: small price differences get misread, and the wrong digit gets clicked on a five-digit quote.
- Short sleep: slower reactions and weaker impulse control are widely reported in sleep studies, so exits land late or early.
- Late-night bright screens: for some people they push bedtime back, which feeds into tomorrow's session. Evidence is mixed, so treat it as a maybe.
- Sitting still for three hours: it feels like focus, but a body that hasn't moved isn't helping concentration.

Cheap things to test: 20 seconds looking at something far away every twenty minutes, a hard stop time with the platform closed, a lit room instead of a dark one. None cost a cent.

Even a fifteen minute walk between sessions counts, and so does eating something that isn't a snack at the desk.

Nothing magical here. Execution is a physical skill, like typing, and tired hands make more typos.

Do you have a hard cutoff time for screens, and has a late session ever cost you a trade you'd normally never take?

The misread digit on a five-digit quote is a real risk late in a long day. Limiting active trading to the first few hours of London, when focus is highest, is one way to avoid it.
