does AUDUSD really react to Chinese data? check it

Everyone repeats that the Aussie follows China. Test it instead of trusting it.

Pull the release times for Chinese data like PMIs, trade figures and activity numbers. Mark the 5-minute candle after each. Record the AUDUSD range over the next 15 minutes and compare it to a normal quiet 15 minutes. Do the same for Australian jobs data and for American payrolls.

Many find the Australian and American releases move the pair more. Chinese data tends to matter when it surprises strongly, and it often lands in Asian hours when thin books amplify the jump. The iron ore link is real too, since Australia sells a lot to China, so commodity price swings can show up in the pair.

Sample size matters. A dozen releases is thin, a year is better. Log whether the number beat or missed forecasts and whether AUDUSD moved the same direction.

The result might surprise. Often the reaction is brief and reverses within the hour.

What did your numbers show, and which release moves AUDUSD most on your feed?
