Plenty of scalpers drag themselves into the London open because that's where the volume lives. Then they sit there foggy, reading candles half a second late.

Energy and liquidity are two separate things. Someone who's sharpest at 10pm can find a perfectly decent session in the late New York hours, thinner as it is. Someone who's mush before noon has no business sizing up at the open just because the big players are awake.

Rough check: tag every trade with the hour it was taken, then add a one-to-five rating for how alert it felt at entry. After a month, sort by the rating. The gap between the fives and the twos is often louder than the gap between pairs.

Fixed sessions are fine, as long as they got picked on purpose. Choosing hours because a video said so is a different matter.

Some people also find the first half hour after waking is a bad time to click anything, however good the chart looks.

Which hours of the day have actually treated you best, and do they line up with when your head feels clearest?
