FIFO and the trap of closing the wrong ticket

Some regulatory regimes require positions in the same instrument to be closed first-in, first-out. Traders on those accounts sometimes get confused when they try to close a specific ticket and the platform refuses, or closes a different one instead.
Picture a scalper who opened three EURUSD buys over twenty minutes: one at 1.0850, one at 1.0862, one at 1.0871. Price drifts to 1.0868. The plan is to close the 1.0871 buy for a small scratch and keep the others. Under FIFO rules, the platform closes the oldest ticket first, the 1.0850 one, which is sitting at a nice profit, and the runner the trader wanted to keep is gone.
The same rule can also block opening an opposite position while others are open, since hedging may be disallowed.
The fix is boring but effective: read the account type rules before the first live trade, and test the close behaviour with minimum size. Surprises cost real money in this one.
Anyone trading under FIFO restrictions found a clean way to manage scaling in and out?
