Speed makes losses feel smaller and more frequent

A swing trader loses once a week. A scalper loses forty times a day. The emotional impact of each loss shrinks, but the cumulative effect is different.

Constant small losses produce a background of irritation that builds through the day. By the afternoon, patience is gone. The trader takes marginal setups, shortens waiting times, and starts looking for action.

Decision fatigue is a known effect. The quality of choices falls after many decisions in a row. Scalpers make hundreds of micro-decisions each session.

A session with fixed length and a mandatory break after a certain number of trades helps. Another useful device is a pause after consecutive losses, say ten minutes away from the screen.

It feels unproductive. The data often shows that trades taken after the break are better than those taken in the fatigued stretch.

Which hour of the session produces the worst decisions, and is there a pattern in the timing?
