One-click trading is a loaded gun

Platforms offer a setting to skip the confirmation window and place orders with a single click. Fast. Convenient. And responsible for some of the most expensive typos in retail trading.

A misplaced mouse movement, a double click, a trackpad tap while scrolling. Suddenly there's a 10 lot position instead of 1, or a sell instead of a buy, and the stop hasn't been attached yet.

Some scalpers swear by it because speed matters. Others turn it off after the first scare. A middle path exists: keep one-click on but use hotkeys with fixed lot sizes, and lock the lot size field so it can't be changed accidentally.

The biggest risk is not clicking too fast, it's clicking while distracted. Phone buzzes, hand moves, order fires. Treating the trading desk as a place where hands only touch the mouse with intent helps.

Anyone ever had a fat-finger incident? What changed afterwards?
