Using the overnight high-low midpoint as a bias line

A simple idea: take the high and low from 22:00 to 07:00 London, mark the midpoint, and use it as a bias line for the first hour of London on EURUSD.

One way to use it:
  • If London opens above the midpoint and the first M5 bar closes above it too, only look for longs until 09:00.
  • If price crosses the midpoint twice in the first 20 minutes, drop the bias and wait for a clear break of the overnight high or low.
  • Don't use the midpoint as an entry level by itself. It only filters direction.
To test it, mark each journal trade as with or against the midpoint bias and compare win rates at the same targets and stops. Be careful comparing old unfiltered trades with new filtered ones: if you were trading worse back then, part of any gap is just you improving. Tagging both groups over the same period avoids that.

The overnight range on EURUSD is often only 20 to 30 pips, so the midpoint is close to price most mornings. On wide overnight ranges it matters less.

Anyone else using a midpoint like this? Do you take it from the Asian session only, or from the full overnight period?
